Yttrium
Yttrium oxide is a rare metal used as a key component in superconductors and television screens. Bosch uses yttrium in their oxygen sensors and long life performance spark plugs as it resists wear and oxidation, thus extending durability while not sacrificing electrical conductivity. The attached photo shows the extended life on an yttrium Bosch Super+ center electrode. Yttrium is also used on the ground electrodes of Bosch Platinum+2, Platinum+4 and PlatinumIR Fusion spark plugs to greatly extend plug life. |
